Why Hire A Coach?

[Why Even The Best Laid Plans Fail…]

It’s ultimately not the outcome, it’s who you become in the process.

When you become that person, it’s far easier to achieve your goals.

The outcome becomes congruent with who you are.

Then it’s not an exhausting game of pretending you’re someone you aren’t.

It’s not that any given plan is bad, it’s that most plans assume everything in life will go right and that the person already has grown into all the qualities needed to make the plan work, or to put it simply, the plan often overlooks someone’s current Point A and starts much further into the alphabet.

If Rocky jumped into the same level of training as Apollo right at the start, then he would have been beaten before the bell rang.

Most people think it’s the plan that creates the result.

They tell themselves “If I could just find a proven plan… a simple plan… a clear plan… THEN I’d finally get the results that have been eluding me.”

So they buy one.

Then another.

Then another.

Yet somehow…

…they’re still stuck.

Why?

Because their plan might have been written by someone who’s younger and has never been out of shape, so their baseline assumptions are really high.

Because their plan assumes that going from zero to sixty in terms of training or diet isn’t a big deal because the coach has done that themselves and so you should be able to as well.

Because their plan doesn’t take into account having to fit training into a busy schedule, including the need to have energy for the rest of life’s demands.

Most people think it’s the plan that creates the result.

But, even the most incredible plans, written by the most successful people and tailor-made specifically to individual circumstances don’t execute themselves.

People do.

And that’s the part that so many people overlook to their great detriment, frustration and cost.

The uncomfortable truth is that people rarely rise or fall because of the quality of their strategy.

They rise or fall because of the QUALITIES they bring to bear on the moment their strategy meets resistance.

Because every plan looks brilliant…

…until life punches it in the face.

Until motivation disappears.

Until fear arrives.

Until doubt creeps in.

Until progress slows.

Until the obstacle appears.

Until ‘shit happens’.

THAT’S the moment that determines the outcome.

Failure rarely happens just because the plan stopped working.

But because the person stopped showing up in the way the plan required.

Because the plan never took into account that more often than not, a person has to grow into change, that they need to be in alignment with it, not just take a willpower fueled vacation from their old self.

A mediocre plan (so-called mediocre because it’s long term) executed with courage, discipline, adaptability and commitment will always outperform the perfect plan abandoned at the first sign of difficulty.

Which means the greatest investment you can make isn’t about finding a better map.

It’s about becoming the kind of person who can keep moving when the map leads somewhere difficult or unexpected.

It’s about not slashing the other three tires when you get a flat, because this is a bumpy road and flat tires will happen.

Because yeah, the plan matters.

But the person bringing it to life matters FAR more.

“Do you possess the qualities required to continue?”

If the answer is no, then realize that the obstacle hasn’t DEFEATED you.

It’s revealed what STILL needs to be developed and inviting you to do so.

This process is hard enough on your own.

It’s a lot easier if you hire a coach.

Someone who knows what it’s like to not want to train, to not want to cook when they’re tired, to not turn off the distractions and get to bed on time.

Someone who can bring both the art and the science of training and help you manage compromises so that you don’t quit because you can’t do all the things a perfect plan requires.

This isn’t to say that you don’t have to do anything except sit and try to manifest it, it’s to say that sometimes it’s helpful to have someone help you adjust the plan, encourage, and keep you accountable.
