Why Hire A Coach?

It’s ultimately not the outcome, it’s who you become in the process.

When you become that person, it’s far easier to achieve your goals because who you are isn’t at odds with them.

Then it’s not an exhausting game of pretending you’re someone you aren’t.

It’s not that any given plan is bad, it’s that most plans assume everything in life will go right and that the person already has grown into all the qualities needed to make the plan work, or to put it simply, the plan often overlooks someone’s current Point A and starts much further into the alphabet.

If Rocky jumped into the same level of training as Apollo right at the start, or if he just trained randomly, then he would have been beaten before the bell rang.

Most people think it’s the plan that creates the result.

Here’s the thing.

There is no perfect plan.

There’s only managed compromise, showing up consistently, and learning new habits.

If you want to achieve anything and hold onto those results, then you have to work within your givens – time, access to equipment, level of experience, ability to recover, etc.

That compromise, accountability to be consistent, and help with habits is where a coach comes in.

A coach can look at the time you have to train, what your circumstances are, and help you come up with something better than doing random Instagram workouts, the odd spin class, and trying to rack up more “good days” than “bad”.

Don’t have an hour at the gym, three times per week?

Do half an hour and focus on the essentials.

Don’t have an hour to walk 10K steps? Break it up into three 15 minute walks spread throughout the day.

Not yet strong enough for some of the movements? Do push-ups with your hands up on chairs or the back of a couch instead of the regular version.

Don’t have time to get to the gym? Spend $120 and get a hundred pound barbell and dumbbell set. (All in one box) Now you have 90 percent of what you need.

Most people think it’s some magical plan that creates the result.

But, even the most incredible plans, written by the most successful people and tailor-made specifically to individual circumstances don’t execute themselves.

People do.

And that’s the part that so many people overlook to their great detriment, frustration and cost.

The uncomfortable truth is that people rarely rise or fall because of the quality of their strategy.

They rise or fall because of the QUALITIES they bring to bear on the moment their strategy meets resistance.

Failure rarely happens just because the plan stopped working.

But because the person stopped showing up in the way the plan required.

Are you showing up more and more as someone who’s consistent with the goals you have?

Because the perfect plan never took into account that more often than not, a person has to grow into change, that they need to be in alignment with it, not just take a willpower fueled vacation from their old self.

A mediocre plan (so-called mediocre because it’s long term) executed with courage, discipline, adaptability and commitment will always outperform the perfect plan abandoned at the first sign of difficulty.

Also, if you get serious about this, it’s going to put you at odds with a lot of people.

You know the usual lines.

“Come on, live a little.”

“Missing one work out won’t make a difference.”

If you want to stay stuck, then listen to the advice most people will give you.

“You’re fine, you worry too much, don’t get too wound up about this.”

That person probably thinks that to get fit that they would have to do everything perfectly, put out way more energy than they have, stay sore all the time, they’ve counted that cost, and quit.

They’re probably assuming that you’re trying to do that.

This isn’t to say that you’ll be the weird person no one likes who brings Tupperware containers of chicken and broccoli everywhere, but you will need to dial things in more than the average person.

This process is hard enough on your own.

It’s a lot easier if you hire a coach.

Someone who knows what it’s like to balance the discipline of good habits and also knows when to not let the perfect (which has an expiration date) get in the way of the good (which can be sustained).

Someone who can bring both the art and the science of training and help you manage compromises, stay consistent with the basics, and adjust when surprises inevitably come up.

If that sound good, then email me at 513fit@gmail.com to set up a free 15 minute consult. No pressure, no awkward conversations with no polite way out. This to answer your questions and see if we would work well together.

Three months later. A lot of hard work and a lot of adjustments made because of his starting point.
Ready to go the distance.
It wasn’t just the physical readiness and boxing training.
Rocky also became mentally consistent with the goal of going 15 rounds with the world champion.
